Job Description

Pastoral Care Coordinator

1st Shift - Part Time

Serves as program developer and coordinator for pastoral care services and ensures the provision of spiritual care for patients, families and staff at Baptist Health Richmond. Assists in strategic development, planning, implementation and oversight of programs, strategies, initiatives, and policies and procedures aimed at enhancing the patient experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with the Patient Experience Coordinator, Director of Quality, VP/CNO and other members of the administrative and/o Management team to enhance the patients experience and support their spiritual needs.
  • Develops, coordinates, and communicates a pastoral care pool schedule to ensure adequate coverage of pastoral care needs across the organization
  • Responsible for ongoing planning, development, implementation and evaluation of pastoral care programs which meet the needs of patients
  • Under the direction and guidance Patient Experience Coordinator and the Director of Quality serves as a liaison between patients, family, community, staff, directors/managers, and providers to enhance the patient experience
  • Serves as a consultant for the organization regarding religious, moral and/or ethical matters and serves on hospital and system-wide committees, where appropriate
  • Works collaboratively with Director of Care Transitions/Palliative Care, Senior Team and members of the medical staff to establish processes, programs and activities, which support the organization’s overall goals for Palliative Care, Advance Care Planning, and Population Health
  • Maintains Patient/Employee/Organization confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintains corporate compliance guidelines and integrity.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards
  • Works with pastors from various congregations throughout the local community and establishes collegial networking relationships to support organizational goals related to spiritual care and health promotion

Essential Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. or its equivalent; M.Div. or its equivalent from a seminary preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • CPE experience to qualify as a Board-Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains (is required to become Board Certified eligible within two years of employment
