General Purpose:

The Paste Operator is responsible for following all DFA Ingredient Solutions GMP’s and working in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, and quality and sanitation requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Weighs each ingredient and add to the batch
  • Ensures the product is ready to mix and barrel off
  • Follow MI to make paste
  • Carries out all QA checks in the mix room
  • Operates the pH meter, refractometer, etc. to keep product within specifications
  • Performs necessary routine cleaning and preventive maintenance
  • Follows established plant operating and cleaning procedures
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Assists with safety analysis and on the job training of new employees
  • Attends educational training seminars as needed (i.e. loss control)
  • Attends and participates in safety meetings
  • Reports unsafe acts, conditions, and accidents immediately to supervisor
  • Assists in accident investigations
  • Covers vacations and overtime as needed or required
  • Assists with duties in other departments as needed
  • Ability to work flexible schedule of 40 hours each week including weekends as needed
  • Performs other work as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to issue ingredients into SAP
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and job safety analysis
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
  • Performs work independently, as required
  • Knowledge with machines, tools, equipment, and Lockout Tagout
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year manufacturing experience preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment
