Job Description
Santa Monica, CA | Subaru | Trusted brand | Parts management | Fixed ops | Wholesale | Inventory | DMS | Southern California | Los Angeles | Veterans encouraged to apply | $70,000 - $90,000/yr
IS THIS YOU?
- You're an experienced parts manager who runs a tight department -- fill rates, inventory accuracy, obsolescence, and gross are metrics you own and understand deeply
- You build strong relationships with wholesale accounts, your internal service team, and your parts advisors -- your department functions because of how you lead it, not despite it
- You're ready to bring that expertise to a well-established Southern California Subaru store with a loyal, passionate owner base and a parts operation that supports a busy service department
WHO WE ARE
Swickard Auto Group is a hospitality company that happens to sell and service cars. We believe the best guest experiences start with the best employee experiences. That's why we've grown to 40+ rooftops across the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii while maintaining a culture built on one simple idea: do right by people, every time.
Subaru of Santa Monica serves one of Southern California's most loyal and values-driven ownership communities. Subaru guests are engaged, brand-passionate, and return for service at a high rate -- which means the parts department here is an active, meaningful part of the store's fixed ops performance. The Parts Manager leads that operation and has a direct impact on service throughput, wholesale revenue, and the guest experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and develop the parts department team -- setting performance standards, coaching parts advisors, and building a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and genuine service
- Manage parts inventory to strong fill rates, healthy turn, and low obsolescence -- balancing stock levels to support service throughput without carrying unnecessary aging inventory
- Drive wholesale parts revenue -- developing and maintaining relationships with independent shops, body shops, and wholesale accounts in the Santa Monica and greater LA market
- Partner with the service department to ensure parts availability supports technician productivity and keeps repair workflows moving without delays
- Oversee shipping, receiving, and parts returns -- ensuring all inbound and outbound inventory is processed accurately and on time
- Monitor department performance metrics -- gross profit, fill rate, inventory accuracy, obsolescence, and turn -- and report results to store leadership
- Maintain compliance with all Subaru OEM parts programs, warranty parts handling, and manufacturer requirements
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and development of parts department staff
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years of parts manager experience at a franchised dealership -- required
- Subaru or import brand parts management experience a strong plus -- familiarity with Subaru's parts programs, OEM processes, and the brand's high-retention owner base is a meaningful advantage
- Strong wholesale development experience -- able to build and maintain a productive wholesale account base in a competitive Southern California market
- Deep proficiency with dealership DMS platforms -- Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of inventory management fundamentals -- fill rate, turn, obsolescence control, and gross profit
- A people-first leadership approach -- your department performs because of how you develop your team
- Clear communicator who works effectively across service, sales, and external wholesale accounts
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
WHAT WE OFFER
- $70,000 - $90,000/yr
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Life insurance and supplemental coverage options
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Career growth -- strong parts managers at Swickard grow into fixed ops director and multi-store operations roles
- Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts
- A well-established Southern California store with a loyal Subaru ownership base and a parts operation with real wholesale opportunity in the LA market
WHY SUBARU OF SANTA MONICA
- Subaru's ownership base is one of the most loyal in the automotive industry -- high service retention means consistent parts demand and a stable foundation for a well-run department
- Santa Monica's position in the greater LA market creates real wholesale opportunity -- independent shops, body shops, and fleet accounts across one of the country's most active automotive markets
- A values-driven Southern California community that aligns naturally with the Subaru brand -- guests here care about the store they support and return to the people who take care of them
- Swickard is one of the fastest-growing dealer groups in the country -- ranked Top 5 in North America for reputation in the automotive industry
- Our HEART values -- Honor, Engage, Anticipate, Respond, Thank -- shape how we lead our teams and serve our guests every day
If you're an experienced parts manager ready to lead a well-established operation in one of Southern California's most loyal Subaru markets -- where strong inventory discipline, wholesale development, and genuine team leadership drive real results -- we'd like to meet you.
