Job Description

Parts Inventory & Purchasing Coordinator

Larapinta, QLD | Full-Time

About Us

Fork Force Australia is one of Australia’s leading forklift providers and a rapidly growing national business.

We’ve built our business by doing things differently, investing in better systems, improving the way we work and focusing heavily on customer service.

Our national Parts operation supports branches, workshops and customers across Australia, and we’re now looking for someone to join the team in a role that combines purchasing with a growing focus on inventory management.

Our head office is based in Larapinta, QLD.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Parts Inventory & Purchasing Coordinator to join our national Parts team.

This role will initially have a strong focus on day-to-day purchasing and supplier coordination, while also working closely with our National Parts Manager to improve the way we manage inventory across the business.

We are not necessarily looking for an experienced Inventory Manager.

We’re looking for someone who already has a good grounding in parts, inventory, purchasing, warehousing or supply chain and is ready to take the next step.

You’ll receive hands-on support and mentoring, with the opportunity to gradually take greater ownership of our national inventory processes as your knowledge and experience grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Raising and managing purchase orders for local and international suppliers
  • Communicating with suppliers regarding orders, availability, pricing and delivery timeframes
  • Following up outstanding orders and overdue deliveries
  • Coordinating international freight and assisting with shipping and customs documentation
  • Processing and checking supplier invoices against purchase orders and deliveries
  • Investigating shortages, discrepancies and missing parts
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory information in our systems
  • Monitoring stock levels and parts usage across our branch network
  • Assisting with daily and scheduled replenishment processes
  • Reviewing reorder levels and identifying opportunities to improve stock availability
  • Identifying excess, slow-moving and potentially obsolete inventory
  • Reviewing stock held across branches and recommending transfers where appropriate
  • Assisting with difficult-to-source parts and alternative supplier options
  • Working with branches to resolve inventory and supply issues
  • Supporting inventory reporting and continuous-improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with the development of procedures and processes for the Parts department

As the role develops, we want this person to become increasingly involved in analysing our inventory and making recommendations on how we can improve stock availability while reducing unnecessary stock holding.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys understanding why something is happening, rather than simply processing the next transaction.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in parts, inventory, purchasing, warehousing, supply chain or a similar environment
  • A practical understanding of stock movement, purchasing and replenishment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Confidence communicating with suppliers and internal teams
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • Comfortable computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using an ERP, inventory or purchasing system
  • The ability to work independently and follow issues through to resolution
  • A willingness to learn and take on greater responsibility over time

Experience within automotive, machinery, forklifts, industrial equipment or spare parts would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Experience with international suppliers, importing or freight would also be beneficial.

Who This Role Would Suit

This role could be a great next step if you are currently working as a:

  • Parts Officer
  • Purchasing Officer
  • Inventory Controller
  • Storeperson with inventory responsibilities
  • Supply Chain Coordinator
  • Parts Interpreter
  • Purchasing or Procurement Assistant

and you’re looking for the opportunity to broaden your experience and develop into a more senior inventory-focused position over time.

Why Join Fork Force?

You’ll be joining a growing national business where you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact.

You’ll work closely with the National Parts Manager and receive ongoing mentoring in inventory management, purchasing, stock analysis and continuous improvement.

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

  • Develop your inventory and purchasing skills
  • Gain exposure to a national branch network
  • Work with local and international suppliers
  • Become involved in stock analysis and inventory improvement projects
  • Take on more responsibility as your capability grows
  • Build a long-term career within a growing Australian business

If you have some experience in parts, purchasing or inventory and are looking for the opportunity to take the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
