Job Title: Parts Counter Representative

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Parts Counter Representative to join our team in Williston North Dakota. The Parts Counter Representative will be responsible for assisting customers, managing parts inventory, and providing exceptional service to support our clients’ needs in the diesel truck and equipment industry. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for customer service, and knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle parts.

As a Parts Counter Representative, you will play a crucial role in assisting customers and technicians with their heavy-duty truck and or off-highway equipment parts needs. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, identifying, and locating the correct parts, processing transactions accurately, and maintaining inventory levels. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a passion for delivering top-notch service to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Greet and assist customers (in-person, over the phone, and via email) with parts inquiries, identifying their needs, and recommending appropriate parts and accessories for heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.
  • Parts Lookup and Sales: Utilize parts catalogs, digital systems, and inventory databases to locate and provide accurate parts information, process sales, and issue invoices.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control, including receiving, stocking, and organizing parts, ensuring accurate stock levels, and conducting periodic inventory counts.
  • Order Processing: Place special orders for non-stocked items, coordinate with suppliers, and communicate delivery timelines to customers.
  • Technical Support: Provide basic technical guidance to customers regarding parts compatibility and installation, collaborating with service technicians as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sales, returns, and inventory transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with service and sales teams to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Shop Maintenance: Keep the parts counter and surrounding area clean, organized, and presentable.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in automotive or diesel technology is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a parts department, automotive, or heavy-duty equipment industry preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
    • Basic knowledge of heavy-duty diesel truck and equipment parts or willingness to learn.
    • Proficiency with computers, including inventory management software and parts lookup systems.
    • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and occasionally work in a warehouse environment.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license preferred; must be able to pass a background check.

Work Environment:

  • The position is based in Williston, North Dakota at our heavy-duty diesel truck and equipment shop.
  • Work hours may include occasional weekends and rotating after-hours shifts as required.
  • The role involves interaction with customers, technicians, and vendors in a dynamic shop environment.
