This position is responsible to procure replacement parts and materials necessary for equipment repairs in the most economical and timely manner possible. Maintain warehouse stock levels and cleanliness. Implement methods of handling parts and materials safely and easily. Work as a team to ensure successful outcomes to shop repairs.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  1. Purchases, stores, and issues spare parts for motor vehicles or equipment.
  2. Takes inventory of parts and equipment and maintains inventory levels
  3. Creates and completes computerized purchase orders
  4. Order parts via telephone, email, fax, or online ordering
  5. Reconcile packing lists and invoices with part received/prices quoted
  6. Stores purchased parts and issues parts to workers upon request
  7. Dispatch parts runners as necessary
  8. Operate forklift as needed to load and unload cargo
  9. Must be self-motivated and a team player able to work with minimum supervision
  10. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive customer relations and be courteous and respectful of others
  11. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
  12. Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors
  13. Monitor and discuss parts related issues with co-workers and management
  14. Must wear required personal protective equipment
  15. Answer telephone and if necessary, transfer caller to the correct recipient
  16. Ensure OSHA safety and environmental regulation compliance
  17. Some heavy lifting required, up to 75 pounds at a time
  18. Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)

  1. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
  2. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

  1. GED or high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Previous parts experience, mechanical experience
  3. Computer knowledge and experience
  4. Able to provide and maintain appropriate licensure and acceptable driving record

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (preferred requirements i.e. certifications, software use, etc.)

  1. Prefer truck and/or heavy equipment knowledge
