Position Summary:

The Parts Clerk is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the parts department at MGB Manufacturing by receiving, organizing, issuing, and maintaining accurate records of parts and inventory. This role ensures that parts are properly identified, stored, and available when needed to support production, maintenance, and other departments. The Parts Clerk will also assist with inventory control, data entry, order processing, and maintaining an organized and efficient parts area.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming parts and materials, verify quantities and part numbers, inspect for visible damage, and properly document and store items.
  • Organize and maintain parts inventory in designated locations, ensuring parts are properly labeled and easily accessible.
  • Issue parts and materials to production, maintenance, and other departments as requested while maintaining accurate records of inventory transactions.
  • Enter and maintain accurate parts and inventory information in the company’s inventory management system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with identifying parts that need to be reordered or replenished.
  • Assist with preparing parts orders, purchase orders, transfers, and other inventory-related documentation as directed.
  • Research part numbers, descriptions, availability, and inventory quantities as needed to assist employees and supervisors in locating the correct parts.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities to ensure inventory records remain accurate.
  • Maintain accurate records of received, issued, transferred, and returned parts and materials.
  • Work closely with warehouse personnel, production teams, maintenance personnel, purchasing, and supervisors to ensure parts are available when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts department and ensure inventory is stored in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed to receive, move, and store parts and materials.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for handling and storing parts and materials. Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor or warehouse manager to support the operational needs of the facility.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a parts, warehouse, inventory, logistics, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately enter information into inventory or business management systems.
  • Ability to identify, organize, and maintain accurate records of parts and materials.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (training provided if necessary).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to work with various departments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
  • The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
