Job Description

Performs routine maintenance and repair services in more than one craft such as electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, painting, and millwrighting. This position is more common in smaller facilities where the incumbent has adequate experience to do most of the work specific to that setting, but is supported by specialists or outside contractors as needed. Has a sound understanding of the maintenance history of the building, equipment, and other facilities to be maintained.

Job Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

Carry out standard maintenance and repair activities under detailed guidance. Troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.

Equipment Installation

Carry out standard installation activities under detailed guidance. Troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.

Site Maintenance

Report any problems or issues with site facilities.

Quality Assurance

Perform relatively simple quality sampling and inspection of products or processes (or both).

Operational Compliance

Follow a range of mandatory procedures to ensure that work is carried out to the required quality standards and/or to ensure adherence to external regulatory codes and internal codes of conduct.

Health, Safety, and Environment

Follow a range of mandatory work instructions (including use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.

External Communications

Create positive experiences for clients by interacting courteously with them.

Work Scheduling and Allocation

Organize own work schedule each day in line with changing priorities.

Personal Capability Building

Develop and maintain excellent procedural or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
