He angitūtanga: The opportunity


Auckland Council’s Environmental Services department has an opportunity for a Partnerships Advisor within the Community Conservation and Engagement team.


This role provides specialist partnership management services, developing and delivering mutually beneficial partnerships with private and philanthropic organisations. Your work will increase investment and accelerate natural environment outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau, aligned with the department’s strategic priorities.


Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Planning, scheduling and delivering partnership projects from inception to completion, including budgets, logistics and reporting
  • Acting as a specialist partnership liaison between partners, project managers and delivery teams across Environmental Services and other council departments
  • Developing and managing partnerships with private and philanthropic organisations, including proposal preparation, agreement development and negotiation
  • Coordinating partnership activities, co-delivery arrangements and joint initiatives to maximise environmental outcomes
  • Monitoring and evaluating partnerships against agreed outcomes, providing regular reporting

This role requires proven experience in partnership development, partnership management or stakeholder engagement, ideally within a large or complex organisation.


We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Building and managing partnerships with private and philanthropic organisations
  • Coordinating projects across multiple stakeholders and teams
  • Applying partnership frameworks and problem-solving moderately complex issues
  • Planning, scheduling, and reporting on partnership activities
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence


You will come with tertiary qualification in business, commerce, marketing or related field, and be confident engaging in Te Ao Māori, applying tikanga and te reo Māori appropriately in partnership interactions.
