Job Description

Worker Type:

Permanent

Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."

We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.

We have an opportunity for a Partnership Growth Manager to join our Wealth, Insurance & Product Governance team and play a pivotal role in accelerating BNZ’s wealth and insurance growth.

You’ll own the delivery of your partner portfolio end-to-end, ensuring our partnerships create exceptional customer outcomes, deliver sustainable commercial growth, and strengthen long-term strategic relationships. You’ll work closely with our Partnership Operations and Propositions teams, bringing together the right expertise to deliver the best outcomes for our customers, partners, and BNZ.

This is an Auckland-based hybrid role, with at least three days a week in the office.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We sat down with our Partnership Growth Portfolio Lead and they shared what makes this role such a great opportunity.

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Lead the commercial performance of your partnerships by monitoring key financial and commercial metrics, confidently using financial modelling and commercial analysis to identify where to invest, where to optimise, and where the greatest opportunities for growth exist.
  • Turn strategy into action with your partner(s), developing and delivering partner business plans that drive exceptional customer outcomes and sustainable commercial growth, while adapting to changing market conditions and business priorities.
  • Own the end-to-end roadmap for your partner portfolio, taking initiatives from discovery and prioritisation through to delivery, go-live and benefits realisation. You’ll work closely with our Partnership Operations and Propositions teams to bring initiatives to life, keep momentum high and deliver great customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Keep the work focused on delivering great customer and commercial outcomes by prioritising the right initiatives, developing strong business cases, tracking success, managing dependencies, and helping the business make informed decisions when priorities compete.
  • Build trusted, high-performing partner relationships, creating strong engagement rhythms, influencing with confidence, following through on commitments, and proactively identifying new opportunities to create value for customers, partners, and BNZ.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to genuinely influence the growth of BNZ’s Wealth and Insurance partnerships, delivering better outcomes for our customers while driving sustainable commercial growth. You’ll have the autonomy to identify opportunities, influence strategy, and bring initiatives to life that make a real difference for both our customers and our business.

No two days are the same. One day you could be developing a commercial case for a new opportunity, the next you’ll be influencing senior stakeholders, solving complex challenges with partners, or bringing a new initiative to market. You’ll work closely with our Partnership Operations and Propositions teams, giving you exposure across the business while playing a central role in bringing strategy, commercial thinking, and delivery together.

If you enjoy building trusted relationships, thinking commercially, solving problems, and seeing your work translate into meaningful customer and business outcomes, you’ll thrive in this role.

What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity?

Success in this role comes from balancing multiple priorities across a complex partnership portfolio while keeping everyone aligned around what will create the greatest value.

You’ll need to confidently navigate competing priorities, challenge assumptions, make commercially sound decisions and influence both internal and external stakeholders. As market conditions and partner priorities evolve, you’ll be comfortable adapting plans, managing ambiguity and maintaining momentum, while ensuring decisions balance customer outcomes, commercial performance, and long-term partnership success.

What will success look like for the candidate in this role?

Success will be measured by the strength of your partnerships, the outcomes you deliver for customers, and the sustainable commercial growth you create for BNZ.

You’ll have built trusted relationships with your partners and stakeholders, developed clear partner business plans, prioritised the right opportunities and consistently turned strategy into action. You’ll confidently manage commercial performance, use financial insights to guide decision making, and continually identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes and deliver measurable value for our customers, partners, and BNZ.

What specific skills would be beneficial?

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in financial services (5+ years). You’ll also bring:

  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret financial information, build compelling business cases, and confidently use financial and commercial modelling to identify, evaluate, and prioritise growth opportunities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across BNZ and our partners, collaborate effectively, and confidently challenge where needed to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Experience developing and delivering strategic initiatives, ideally within partnerships, wealth, or insurance environments.
  • Strong programme, project, or delivery management capability, with the ability to turn strategy into execution and consistently deliver results.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work seamlessly alongside Partnership Operations, Propositions, and other stakeholders to deliver outstanding customer and commercial outcomes.
  • A naturally curious mindset, with a passion for identifying opportunities, solving problems, and continuously improving customer experiences and business performance.
