Provides district-level leadership for middle school career-connected learning by leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive 6–12 Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) system. This position partners with school leaders, counselors, and district departments to embed career readiness, 21st-century skills, and financial literacy into curriculum and counseling practices. The role focuses on data-driven improvement, systems coherence, and building counselor capacity to ensure equitable access to career awareness and exploration experiences for all students.

Support campus administrators in aligning career programming, counseling practices, and instructional priorities to district MyCAP goals and postsecondary readiness outcomes.

Lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of district middle school career readiness initiatives, ensuring alignment to district goals and postsecondary readiness benchmarks. Serve as a district liaison for internal and external partners supporting career-connected learning (e.g., MyCAP, postsecondary and workforce agencies). Ensure programming supports career awareness, exploration, and informed student choice rather than standalone events.

Analyze school-level career engagement and MyCAP-related data (e.g., platform completion, participation metrics, experiential learning exposure) to identify gaps, trends, and inequities. Use data insights to differentiate support, recommend adjustments to programming, and ensure all students—regardless of background—have access to meaningful career learning experiences aligned to in-demand pathways.

Provide sustained coaching and professional learning for middle school counselors focused on implementing a comprehensive counseling model that integrates academic, social/emotional, and career development. Support counselors in using MyCAP tools and data to assess student outcomes, plan interventions, and deliver proactive, career-connected supports aligned to district expectations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position.

  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
  • Master's degree in School Counseling
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider (SSP) license
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Secondary CTE Specialist authorization within twelve (12) months of hire
  • Colorado driver's license
  • Three (3) years of instructional leadership, staff development, or career counseling experience
  • Experience in classroom teaching; educational background
  • Experience developing, leading, and providing professional development opportunities
  • Experience organizing groups, coordinating activities, and supervising projects with an emphasis on innovation and student achievement
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, and email
  • Intermediate knowledge of Colorado Career and Technical Education
