Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.

Tasks and Responsibilities: This manufacturing department position is responsible for the producing quality products for use in automotive or power sport vehicles and may be assigned multiple roles or processes as needed to assist with production or cover absences in the Casting Department.

When accomplishing all tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.

Safety & Environmental:

  • Promotes a Safety First Attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO, Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others.
  • Maintain work areas to ensure safe and clean working conditions.
  • When possible correct unsafe work conditions immediately.

Quality:

  • Ensures the in process and the final product meets customer and NBG quality specifications.
  • Follows work instructions, point cards and communicates appropriately and immediately when quality issues occur.
  • Line Checks – Casting Quality Confirmations.

Delivery:

  • Responsible for completing the planned production quantities as required.

Productivity:

  • Achieves the planned production quantities as required by:
  • Communicating issues to the line lead or supervisor immediately
  • Following work instructions
  • Working as a team and promoting teamwork
  • Preventing interruptions to work flow and productivity
  • Driving forklift as needed
  • Suggesting improvements to productivity, quality, safety etc.

Reporting:

  • Reports safety incidents or near misses, issues with equipment or quality concerns, and work flow interruptions.
  • Reports Quality specifications.

Preferred Skills:

  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build friendly work relationships
  • Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures
  • Have to be able to perform multiple jobs when needed, Melting, Heat treat, Furnace operation, Transfer Pot etc.

Experienced Preferred:

  • Previous experience in related field

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, to use hand to finger; handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
  • Requires regular lifting of weights up to 5 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
