The Virginia Theatre Event Supervisor oversees front-of-house operations during performances and special events, serving as the on-site lead for staff and volunteers while coordinating with security and facility partners. You’ll play a key role in delivering a safe, organized, and welcoming experience for every patron who walks through the doors.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Oversee front-of-house operations for public and private events at the Virginia Theatre
- Manage patron entry, crowd flow, seating, and overall event logistics
- Supervise part-time staff and volunteers to ensure excellent customer service and policy compliance
- Assign duties, provide guidance, and support volunteers during events
- Coordinate with contracted security, custodial services, and building staff
- Assist with event setup, teardown, and post-event closing procedures
- Ensure proper signage and event readiness in coordination with theatre leadership
- Respond quickly and professionally to patron concerns or unexpected issues
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold Park District safety and conduct standards
- Attend required meetings and stay informed on event operations
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in event operations, theatre operations, customer service supervision, or a related setting.
- Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.
- Strong customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, office software, and event management tools.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Preferred:
- Experience working with live events, concerts, theatre productions, or film screenings.
- Familiarity with volunteer coordination and front-of-house management.
