Part timeUnder general supervision, receives incoming telephone calls from the public and provides various types of information, primarily related to ad valorem taxes.
Provides excellent customer service to a large number of taxpayers via telephone, in person, and written correspondence. Gathers information, determines needs of customer, provides explanation in a concise manner; handles customer complaints and problems effectively, redirects calls to other offices when necessary. Analyzes and determines acceptability of payments. Calculates fees and calculates interest accruing monthly for delinquent accounts. Enter address changes to tax rolls. Corresponds with taxpayers when necessary and maintains files. Accesses and retrieves information from other sources in an effort to determine correct mailing information for a large volume of returned mail. Assist the Delinquent Tax Division with proofreading galleys, certified mailings, and conduction of sales. Scans checks daily for balancing. Verifies cash taken in the cashier division and prepares the deposit for the bank. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by courses in typing, personal computers, 10-key, etc., and over one year qualifying experience. Ten key skills of 7,500 keystrokes per hour. Type/Keyboarding of 45 words per minute.
