POSITION: Part Time Swim Lesson Instructor
START DATE: Immediately - Pending Criminal History Clearance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Lifeguarding certification required.
- CFSI certification through USSSA
- Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification required.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
- Strong swimming ability and physical fitness sufficient to perform water rescues.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to enforce rules firmly and professionally.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
REPORTS TO:
FUNCTION:
- The Swim Instructor is responsible for the continuous surveillance of their swimmer(s) and surrounding areas to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of their swimmers at the ESCNJ Aquatics and Fitness Center (AFC). The Instructor enforces facility rules, plans lessons and evaluates performance of swimmers, while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Surveillance: Continuously monitor the swimmers.
- Rule Enforcement: Enforce all pool rules, policies, and safety guidelines, and communicate them clearly and professionally to patrons.
- Incident Reporting: Complete accurate incident and accident reports for any rescues, injuries, or rule violations, and report them to the Aquatics Supervisor.
- Pool Area Maintenance: Assist with keeping the pool deck, equipment, and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Pool Monitoring Support: Assist in monitoring and reporting pool water conditions and mechanical issues to the Aquatics Supervisor.
- Member Interaction: Greet and assist patrons, answer questions, and support a welcoming and safe atmosphere at the facility.
- Training and Drills: Participate in ongoing in-service training and emergency response drills to maintain readiness and skill proficiency.
- Supervisor Communication: Communicate with the Aquatics Supervisor regarding safety concerns, incidents, or other matters requiring escalation or guidance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor.

- Performance of this job to be evaluated by the Aquatics Supervisor.
BENEFITS: No Benefits
HOURLY RATE: $23/HR - Hourly as Needed
