Job Description

Part-time Student Research Assistant in the Faculty of Education (2 posts) (Ref.: 536498) (to commence as soon as possible and continue until 31 August 2026, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should be current undergraduate students in Education, Social Sciences, Data Sciences, Information Management, Statistics, Linguistics, English Studies, or other related disciplines, preferably at HKU. They should be detail-minded, responsible, well-organised, and have a good command of written English.

Applicants with experience or interest in one or more of the following areas are preferred: Python, basic webpage development, data cleaning, spreadsheet management, text processing, or maintenance, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, GitHub Pages, educational material preparation, or AI-supported educational tools. Interest in language learning, vocabulary resources, digital education, or educational research would be an advantage.

The appointee will assist with project tasks related to vocabulary database organisation, webpage and digital resource development, preparation and formatting of teacher-facing materials, data checking and organisation, and general support for ongoing project activities as assigned.
