Job Summary

The Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance, leadership, and operation of a Trade Store, ensuring customers receive exceptional service while delivering sales growth, operational excellence, and team development.

The role acts as the local business leader, responsible for creating an engaging and commercially focused environment that supports trade customers, repeat business, and local market growth. The Store Manager leads store colleagues, develops customer relationships, manages operational performance, and ensures company standards are consistently maintained.

Working closely with TSM, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Customer Operations teams, the Store Manager plays a critical role in converting customer footfall into commercial growth while ensuring the Trade Store remains a reliable and valuable local resource for professional customers.

The role combines people leadership, customer engagement, operational management, and commercial accountability to deliver sustainable business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Store Leadership & Management

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Trade Store
  • Create a positive, customer-focused, and high-performing store culture
  • Ensure company values, standards, and expectations are consistently applied
  • Manage and develop store colleagues through coaching, support, and performance management
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct
  • Support succession planning and development of store talent
  • Act as the primary leader and decision-maker within the store environment

Sales & Commercial Performance

  • Deliver store sales, revenue, and growth objectives
  • Drive customer engagement and repeat purchasing behaviour
  • Support implementation of company sales initiatives and campaigns
  • Monitor store performance against commercial KPIs
  • Identify local opportunities to increase customer activity and sales
  • Promote key product ranges, campaigns, and business priorities

Customer Experience & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade and business customers

  • Ensure operational issues are identified and resolved promptly

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory accuracy and stock control processes
  • Support stock counting and audit activities
  • Minimise stock losses, discrepancies, and waste
  • Ensure products are stored and displayed correctly
  • Support demand planning and stock optimisation initiatives
  • Work closely with supply chain teams to maintain availability
  • Ensure inventory supports customer and commercial requirements

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company health and safety policies
  • Promote safe working practices across the store
  • Maintain housekeeping and operational standards
  • Conduct store checks and inspections
  • Ensure colleagues understand and follow compliance requirements
  • Support incident reporting and investigation activities
  • Maintain security and operational integrity within the store
