Transylvania County Solid Waste is hiring three Part-Time Site Attendants to work on an as-needed (PRN) basis. These positions support residents by ensuring trash and recyclables are placed in the correct containers at our Collection Centers and by collecting applicable fees. Work locations include the Calvert, See Off Road, Pisgah Forest, and Woodruff Road Collection Centers. This role works under the moderate supervision of the Solid Waste Coordinator.
Work is scheduled on an as-needed basis during the operating hours of the County’s Collection Centers:
Shifts may vary depending on staffing needs at each site.
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, ability to adjust focus and color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and occasionally requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
