Job Description

  • Verifies and keeps records for incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, issues materials to the floor, and receives finished goods from production for storage by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes inventory related transactions in Made 2 Manage daily in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares shipping labels and bar code labels as required using computer programs.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Inserts items into containers and binds containers with metal bands as necessary.
  • Stamps or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to appropriate department
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Creates advanced shipping notice (ASN) on external customer web site.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Made 2 Manage Inventory software. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Made 2 Manage Inventory software.
