Job Location Ford Senior Center - MISalary Range $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly

Part-time position driving a 13-passenger SMART bus to transport senior citizens to various events and activities within Taylor and surrounding communities. Requires a Chauffeur’s License. Wages start at $15/hr. with no additional benefits. Applications accepted until position is filled. The City of Taylor is Equal Opportunity Employer.

We are looking for a skilled Bus Driver who will be responsible for operating buses and transporting passengers safely to their destinations. In this position, you will be expected to maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle, follow traffic rules and regulations, and provide excellent customer service to passengers.

In addition to driving, you will be expected to on occasion help at senior events and also perform cleaning duties.

Bus Driver duties and responsibilities

  • Operate a bus safely and efficiently to transport passengers to various destinations
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving
  • Inspect the bus before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus
  • Collect fares and issue tickets or passes as needed
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior
  • Communicate with dispatch and other drivers as needed to coordinate routes and schedules
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the appropriate authorities
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required
  • Help at senior events
  • Occasional light building cleaning duties



Qualifications

Bus Driver requirements and qualifications

To be qualified for a Driver position, and individual must meet the following standards and be able to perform the essential functions and activities of the position:

  • Must possess a valid Chauffeur’s License
  • Clean driving record with no accidents or violations
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a bus driver preferred but not necessary
  • The essential physical activities for Driver position involve the following: balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and operating a bus. An individual in this position will be required to lift and carry weight ranging from 0 to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to perform wheelchair securements.
