Summary:
Position 1
Part-Time School Bus Driver (CDL or Non-CDL)
Under general supervision, the Part-Time School Bus Driver drives a before school shuttle bus and morning field trips on prescribed routes as assigned by the Transportation Manager. Assists with vehicle maintenance and cleaning. The position will generally work from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on school days. A general workday is as follows:
- 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. | Before school shuttle bus
- 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. | Morning field trips and bus maintenance
Position 2
Full-Time School Bus Driver (CDL Required)
Under general supervision, the Full-Time School Bus Driver drives a before school shuttle bus, morning and afternoon field trips, and afterschool athletic events on prescribed routes as assigned by the Transportation Manager. Assists with vehicle maintenance and cleaning. The position will generally work a split morning (7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) and afternoon shift (2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) A general workday is as follows:
- 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. | Before school shuttle bus
- 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. | Morning field trips and bus maintenance
- 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. | Afternoon field trips and afterschool athletic practices and games
Hours will vary with School schedule and sports seasons and may include occasional evenings and weekends. There will be an assigned supervisor on each bus trip to monitor students.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Drives a bus to and from field trips, which take place during school hours as assigned
- Drives a bus to and from afterschool athletic events and practices, as assigned
- Drives before and after school shuttle as assigned
- Follows established safety procedures
- Performs a pre-trip safety/damage inspection of bus before each drive
- Monitors operating conditions of bus and reports needed servicing and/or repairs to Transportation Manager and Director of Facilities
- Performs basic maintenance tasks such as checking oil, securing mirrors, changing light bulbs, etc.
- Fuels vehicles as needed
- Helps maintain bus fleet by detail cleaning including washing bus exteriors, mopping interiors and washing windows regularly
- Maintains bus parking and loading areas including leaf blowing, picking up trash, etc.
- Attends training programs, testing programs, first aid courses, refresher courses and other meeting as scheduled
- Complies with state laws, rules and regulations and school policies relative to student transportation
- Conducts oneself in the best interest of students and in support of the school’s mission statement.
- Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education, Certifications &
Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Clean driving record required
- Experience working with kids preferred
- School Bus (S) endorsement preferred
- Experience as a commercial or school bus driver preferred
- Required for full-time applicants: Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger endorsements and Air Brake restriction removed
- Required for full-time applicants: Valid Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate

- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb a ladder and work while on ladder
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outside in any weather
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Local travel is required
Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and on-going random tests as required per Federal DOT regulations.
