AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Research Assistant for the summer
Job duties to include:
Working with large astronomical catalogs and imaging data sets from JWST
Statistical analysis using large samples of high-redshift galaxies, specifically with the two-point correlation function (2PCF).
Writing well-documented statistical analysis code in Python while producing publication-quality figures.
Interpreting observational results by comparing withcutting-edge theories for galaxy formation and evolution
The selected candidate will be expected to attend weekly meetings throughout the summer to discuss their progress and next steps for the project. The selected candidate will be expected to create short presentations and written summaries to communicate their science results.
Schedule:
Expected hours will be approximately 40 hoursweek for 5 weeks
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $15hour
