Job Description

The Fine Arts Program welcomes applications for a part-time piano accompanist at UT Southern. The role will serve as an accompanist for the UT Southern Concert Choir, Southern Arts Chorale Community Choir, and other events or classes as needed.

Position Overview:

The piano accompanist will serve as an accompanist for the UT Southern Concert Choir, Southern Arts Chorale, UT Southern Voice Studio, as well as perform at special events. There may be opportunities to teach piano lessons in the Music Academy as well as studio classes at the university, based on qualifications and availability. The expected weekly accompaniment hours are about 5-10 hours per week plus events. The primary responsibility will be to provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances of the two choirs and the voice studio, as well as piano lessons and other events as needed. This is an in-person position.

  • Provide accompaniment for a variety of music and music applications for the campus and community. Musical applications may include ensemble accompaniment, voice studio, piano lessons, jury examinations, rehearsals, recitals, and university events.
  • Work with the UT Southern Music Director to ensure adequate staffing for music offerings.
  • Arrange for substitutes when absent.
  • Regularly check your email account. Respond to emails/messages in a timely manner.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent experience
  • Ability to follow vocalist/instrumentalist/conductor in rehearsals and performance
  • Minimum 2 years accompaniment experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work well with choirs or other musical ensembles
  • This is an in-person position.
