Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience providing technical support or assistance to computer users.
  • Experience installing or performing minor repairs on computer hardware, software, or peripheral devices.
  • VALID Driver’s License from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles by time of employment.

Preferences:

  • A degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal and written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.
  • Experience working in law enforcement agency, law firm, fire service industry, or government investigative agency.

REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of computer systems, hardware, software, and electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of data communications and basic administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards, security practices, and the English language.
  • Skill in troubleshooting technical issues and performing system testing.
  • Skill in operations analysis, technical writing, active listening, and gathering information.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems, follow technical instructions, and analyze and organize information.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and select appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.

The salary for this position will be $17/hour for no more than 20 hours per week; Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 am-5 pm. Schedule must be flexible.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?

Selection is a three-to-six-month process where the successful applicants MUST PASS the Oral Interview, CJSTC background prior to beginning.

If selected for an interview, interview will be conducted in person.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.

  • Configure and set up computers, hardware, software, and related equipment for new employees and throughout the Division.
  • Provide on-site and telephone assistance to staff for resolving hardware, software, and communication-related issues.
  • Provide basic technical troubleshooting and support to staff.
  • Assist in analyzing and resolving problems related to the Division’s ACISS case management system.
  • Maintain and update assigned databases to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of all distributed processing hardware, software, and related training materials.
  • Lift, carry, and transport computer equipment and related accessories weighing up to 30 pounds for inventory and office operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the agency’s technical and administrative operations.
