Summary

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Part-Time Marketing & Communications Specialist supports the Parks and Recreation Department's marketing, communications, digital media, website management, and accreditation efforts. This position works closely with the Data and Marketing Coordinator to promote department programs, facilities, events, projects, and initiatives while maintaining consistent and accurate communication with the public.

The position assists with day-to-day social media management, content creation, website updates, marketing materials, photography and video, and other communications needs. The specialist also supports the department's accreditation process by assisting with documentation, organization of evidence, data collection, and preparation of accreditation materials.

This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and experience in communications, marketing, public relations, social media, graphic design, recreation, public administration, or a related area.
  • College coursework or a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, graphic design, business, public administration, recreation, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work a flexible part-time schedule that may occasionally include evenings or weekends for department events and programs.
  • Must be able to travel to parks, recreation facilities, programs, meetings, and events throughout the City as needed.
  • Must be comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to learn department policies, procedures, programs, facilities, and accreditation requirements.
