OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Houston Public Library (HPL) is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, customer service driven individual to serve as a Part Time Inventory Management Clerk to perform various functions for HPL SPACES and Special Events including set up and break down of events.

The (Part-Time) Inventory Management Clerk Will:
• Assist with moving, unloading, and distributing materials including tables, chairs, and other equipment for program/event set up and clean up.
• Maintains storage areas and safety and security of materials and supplies.
• Moves, loads, and delivers equipment and materials for events and programs.
• Assists with special projects such as restocking kits, inventory, mailroom management and special pickups/deliveries.
• Perform clerical duties as needed.
• Provides customer service both external and internal.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or GED.

LICENSE:
May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving AP 2-2.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three months of inventory control, materials management, record keeping or clerical experience is required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.

Qualifications

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
