About Our Family

We are a busy, warm, and spirited household of six: two parents in the medical field with demanding schedules, and four energetic kids who keep things lively. Our home is full of laughter, dancing at the dinner table, and the beautiful chaos that comes with raising a large family while navigating careers that don't follow a typical 9-to-5 rhythm.

We love spending time together, hosting family and friends, and creating a home that feels welcoming. We enjoy cooking, cheering our kids on at their activities, and being intentional about how we spend time together. We're looking for someone who can step into our world, embrace our energy, and help us feel less like we're constantly running behind and more like we're actually enjoying our home and each other.

The biggest opportunity for support is creating a smoother afternoon rhythm for our family. We are looking for someone who can help our kids transition home from school, decompress, complete homework, practice piano, and enjoy meaningful downtime before evening activities begin. This role will also provide support with household organization, laundry, tidying, and occasional meal preparation to help our home run more smoothly.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is warm, engaging, and genuinely enjoys being around children. You can meet our children where they are, hold boundaries and gentle accountability, and help to create a positive afternoon rhythm. You are equally comfortable managing household responsibilities during school hours and shifting into a more child-focused role once the kids are home.

You are highly organized, proactive, and naturally look ahead to identify what needs to be done before small tasks become bigger challenges. You are comfortable stepping into an established household system, learning what works well, and maintaining those routines, while also feeling confident bringing your own ideas and recommendations over time as a collaborative partner. You communicate clearly and confirm understanding so nothing falls through the cracks. You understand that reliability is essential to us as medical professionals and take that seriously.

Both parents speak fluent Spanish and would warmly welcome a Spanish-speaking candidate in this role, though Spanish fluency is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

  • Pickup children from the bus stop and daycare each afternoon
  • Supervise and support after-school routines: snack, backpack unpacking, homework, piano practice, and chores using the family's Skylight calendar
  • Prepare after-school snacks
  • Support kids in getting their bags and belongings organized and ready for the next day
  • Drop off at weekly afternoon activities (approximately once per week with room to grow as kids’ schedules evolve)
  • Maintain a no-screen-time standard on weekdays in a positive, engaging way

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Daily tidying and resetting of the home, with priority focus on the mudroom and kitchen (supporting children to do their role in putting things away)
  • Direct kids in completing their portion of the household chores
  • Maintain and support existing household organization systems; bring thoughtful solutions to the family before implementing changes
  • Review the Skylight family calendar weekly for awareness and forward planning (meals, kids' needs, upcoming events)
  • Proactively change batteries, light bulbs, and manage smoke detectors (keeping supply on hand)
  • Support event and hosting prep – the family entertains frequently for extended family and professional colleagues
  • Assist with unpacking and perform general home reset after travel or extended time away
  • Be on-site point of contact for contractors, vendors, and service providers as needed
  • Water outdoor plants as requested
  • Assist with seasonal clothing sorting and size transitions as directed
  • Coordinate donation prep and drop-offs

Meal Support

  • Plan and prepare 2–3 dinners per week, ranging from ingredient prep to full meal execution, taking the family calendar into account when deciding meals
  • Process produce (wash, chop, store) for snacking throughout the week
  • Defrost protein for bulk prep
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance after meal prep

Inventory & Errands

  • Unpack grocery deliveries and distribute items throughout the home
  • Add needed grocery items and meal ingredients to the shared household list
  • Ad hoc grocery runs for smaller needs (not the primary weekly order)
  • Returns, dry cleaning drop off/pick ups, gift shopping, and other miscellaneous errands as requested
  • Bring in mail and packages; break down cardboard and manage recycling

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, dry, and fold laundry for the children and household linens (bath towels, hand towels, bed linens)
  • Supervise children in putting away their own laundry as a life-skills practice
  • Change bed linens and refresh towels on a regular rotation
  • Keep the laundry area tidy and well-stocked

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Occasional deep cleaning beyond the scope of the weekly cleaner (fridge, oven, baseboards, etc.)
  • Organizational projects as requested, such as the homework room or storage/supply areas
  • Assist with seasonal projects and special household initiatives as needed

How to Apply:

If interested, please submit the following:

  • A brief letter explaining why you would be a great fit for this position
  • Your updated resume
  • At least 3 professional references with contact information
