Position Summary:
Penn Foster Group is seeking a part-time Healthcare Instructor to support our sterile processing and surgical technician programs. The instructor is responsible for providing academic support to ensure learners meet the established learning objectives through answering emails, phone calls, chats, 1-on-1 appointments, and virtual office hours.
The instructor will also play an important role as the subject matter expert. This may include reviewing course updates and revisions to ensure programs are aligned with industry standards and trends, national certification exams, and employer expectations. The instructor will also work with other members of the Healthcare and Academic team and other departments on projects and initiatives to support and improve overall learning outcomes.
This is a remote position.
Essential Job Functions:
• Provide clear, effective, and supportive feedback to learners through online support via appointments, phone, email, and chat.
• Review, evaluate, and suggest lesson, course, or program changes to ensure compliance with various established standards, guidelines, and practices, such as HSPA and NCCT.
• Provide feedback and program insights to improve learner progression.
• Complete administrative tasks as needed, such as monitoring spreadsheets and sharing documents with the team.
• Evaluate and grade assessments, assignments, and practical skills evaluation if needed.
• Document accurately and timely student interactions and grades in the learner management systems.
• Perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• A minimum of an associate’s degree and certified in surgical technology (CST or TS-C)
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in surgical technology, additional experience in sterile processing highly preferred
• Prior teaching or training experience and in distance education preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong communicator in writing and in person
• Desire to motivate students and coworkers to promote academic success
Working Conditions & Hiring Process:
• U.S. Work Location Requirement: All employees must reside in and perform work within the United States. We do not support international remote work arrangements for this role.
• Travel Expectations: While this is a remote position, occasional travel may be required for team meetings, company events, conferences, summits, etc. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as needed.
• On-Camera Work Environment: We operate in a highly collaborative, remote, on-camera culture. Employees are expected to be on camera during meetings unless extenuating circumstances apply.
• Recorded Video Interviews: All video interviews conducted during the hiring process will be recorded to support internal hiring consistency and process improvement.
• Background Checks: Employment with Penn Foster Group is contingent upon successfully completing applicable pre-employment screening requirements, which may include verification of employment history, education, and criminal background, where permitted by law.
• Identity Verification (Form I-9): As part of our onboarding process, all hires must complete employment eligibility verification in compliance with federal law. This includes remote Form I-9 verification, which may require an in-person identity verification step with an authorized representative.
