Job Description

PAY RATE: $16.17 per hour (up to 1,500 hours per year)

Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $5.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Click here for details.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Work activities in this position primarily involve the operation of the golf shop. This position has the potential to stay on throughout the winter season as the Golf Shop transitions to the Ski Center for cross country skiing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employee shall perform other duties as assigned.

  • Provides patrons with excellent customer service.
  • Schedules tee time reservations including online reservation processing.
  • Checks in golfers and accepts payment using a point of sale system.
  • Responsible for the sale of golf shop merchandise.
  • Ensures that the golf shop and immediate area, including restrooms, are kept clean, organized and stocked.
  • Unloads stock items and places them in appropriate storage area.
  • Responsible for stocking golf shop merchandise and informing the Golf Service Manager of low inventories.
  • Maintains an adequate change fund and accurate daily revenue reports.
  • Maintains orderly flow of golfers off #1 and #10 tees.
  • Promotes the Metroparks and Metropark events.
  • Assists the Golf Service Manager with other related tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
  • Ability to communicate using telephone.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers.
  • Ability to operate computer and use applicable software program.
  • Ability to accurately perform cash transactions including making change.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work varied hours depending upon park demands.
  • Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors, and park visitors.
  • May be required to work assigned Special Events, Weekends, Evenings and Holidays.
  • May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to perform essential duties.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to load, unload and move materials from one location to another.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED Requires the use of custodial tools such as brooms, mops, toilet plungers; use of gas or electric powered golf cart; basic construction tools such as hammers and screw drivers. Use of personal computer, word processing, POS system, phone, radio, cash register, calculator, and copy machine.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is routinely requires the use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to run, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch and must have the ability to traverse sandy, marshy, or wooded areas with uneven terrain. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
