Hourly: $26.63 - $28.89

Part-time Faculty: Arts and Humanities

Location: Hybrid – San Diego, South Bay, Escondido

The Department of Arts and Humanities, in the School of Arts, Letters, and Sciences at National University invites applications for part-time faculty in English with a specialization in rhetoric/composition or other related writing fields. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of, or potential for excellence in, the following: teaching in their field, a commitment to serving the University’s diverse adult student body, and related scholarship and/or research. This position primarily works closely with the Academic Program Director and other faculty within the program and contributes to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and success.

Essential Job Duties:

• Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
• Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
• Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.)
• Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
• Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
• Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.

Qualifications:

• MA degree in the field of English, rhetoric/composition, English literature, creative writing, or library science from a regionally accredited university required.
• Two years of higher education teaching experience preferred.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position.
