PART-TIME FACULTY POSITION IN GENETICS/BIOSTATISTICS

2026-2027

Biology Department seeks an Instructor to teach the following class:

BIOL 4250 Population Genetics (Spring 2027): A junior/senior level 3-credit Population Genetics course that emphasizes quantitative treatment of genetics (Foundations in Genetics is a pre-requisite). The course should include mathematical models that provide a theoretical foundation for understanding modern genetics. Past topics have included how haplotype frequencies change due to selection or restricted migration, measurement of linkage disequilibrium, and coalescent theory. The enrollment cap is 20.

Class time: T/Th 12-1:15 preferred, but may be somewhat flexible for a well-qualified candidate

Part-time faculty receive a competitive salary on a per course basis. In addition, part time faculty in the Biology Department have shared office space to prepare lectures and meet with students. Responsibilities include:

· prepare and deliver course lectures at the assigned course time

· write and grade examinations

· be available for 2-3 office hours per week

· write letters of recommendation when appropriate

The expected starting rate per course for this position is $8,866.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Instructors teaching lecture courses must have an MS, PhD, or other advanced degree in an appropriate field of study. We will consider post-doctoral fellows seeking university teaching experience.
