Schedule Details

This rewarding opportunity offers 20 hours per week with flexible timing:

  • Mondays: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Tuesdays: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Flexibility: Hours can be adjusted to fit your availability.
  • Want more hours? Caregivers seeking a full-time or fuller schedule can immediately take on additional shifts with other local clients after onboarding.

About the Role

Abound Health has an urgent need for a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an individual in the New Wilmington area. This client requires high-level personal care, full assistance with mobility transfers, and consistent supervision.

This role is ideal for healthcare caregivers with strong physical lifting capabilities and experience supporting individuals with complex medical and behavioral needs.

What You’ll Do

As a DSP, you will provide essential, hands-on health and daily living support to ensure the client's safety, comfort, and independence.

  • Mobility Support: Provide full assistance with transfers and mobility for a non-ambulatory client.
  • Personal Care: Assist with all daily living needs, including bathing, toileting, and hygiene.
  • Medical & Dietary Care: Manage tube-feeding for all nutrition and medications. Monitor health closely, specifically regarding seizure activity.
  • Communication Support: Help the client communicate using an iPad, picture selection, and non-verbal cues.
  • Behavioral Support: Maintain a calm, structured environment and provide medium-level behavioral guidance.
  • Documentation: Record daily services and communicate consistently with families and Abound team members.

Position Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Physical capability to lift and perform full-assist transfers (required).
  • Comfort providing high-level personal care and managing tube-feeding/medical routines (comprehensive training is provided)
  • Ability to pass criminal background, driving record, and healthcare registry checks.

No prior experience in the I/DD field? No problem! We provide full, paid training and ongoing mentorship to set you up for success.
