JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Part-Time Delivery Driver to become a vital part of our TotalCare team. You will be responsible for the safe pickup, delivery, and handling of firefighter protective gear between Charlotte Fire Department locations and designated transfer sites. The position also assists with receiving, tracking, and processing gear at the Logistics Center as needed. Physical strength and stamina, as well as a clean driving record, are needed.

Position Details:

Hours:

  • Part Time (25-30 hours a week) with possibility of Full Time in the future.
  • Must be flexible and available to drive 3-4 days per week, including 2-3 weekend days (Saturday and/or Sunday) per month.
  • Schedule is planned up to one year in advance but may vary month to month based on Fire Department shift schedules and operational needs.

Location: Charlotte Fire Department Logistics Center, 1501 N. Graham St., Charlotte

Reports to: Atlanta TotalCare Center Manager

Starting Rate: $18.00 - $19.00 / hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivery Driver

  • Safely and efficiently operate a cargo van to pick up and deliver firefighter gear between Charlotte Fire Department stations, the Charlotte FD Logistics Center, and a designated transfer location half way between Charlotte and the Atlanta TotalCare facility.
  • Follow set, scheduled route for daily pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Ensure products are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Load and organize gear from stations into your vehicle and unload gear in and out of the van as needed throughout the day.
  • Check in with Charlotte Fire Stations and Atlanta TotalCare Site/Driver on delivery progress as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in delivery van, at drop off/pick ups at all Fire Departments, and Charlotte FD Logistic Site.
  • Report any accidents or vehicle issues encountered while enroute, to supervisors.
  • Follow rules and regulations of the road at all times.
  • Follow all company and state enforced safety requirements for loading and unloading product.
  • Other duties as needed.

Receiving (as needed/time permitting per schedules)

  • Log firefighter gear received into our tracking system
  • Query database for customer special instructions
  • Create job and production work order
  • Unassemble garments and tag for tracking
  • Process garments received according to cleaning type
  • Receive orders from vendors and match to purchase orders

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Professional and pleasant disposition, able to give all clients a positive customer service experience.
  • Physically fit and strong, able to lift 50 pounds comfortably.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. NO CDL required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Experience working with computers including Outlook, Excel, and warehouse tracking systems.
  • Previous experience in route driving is a plus.
  • Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges with or without correction.
  • Candidate should be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills required.
  • Experience within a computerized warehouse, industrial laundry, and/or product maintenance environment considered a huge asset.
