OVERVIEW OF POSITION
The Part-time Custodian position is a non-exempt role reporting to the Director of Facilities and Custodial Supervisor. The position provides custodial services at the campus of Notre Dame High School ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors, performing a variety of cleaning operations, and ensuring facilities for classroom and campus activities are in the best possible condition.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the cleaning of all facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, cafeteria, pools, grounds, playing fields, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
- Monitors activities in and around work areas (e.g., halls, multipurpose rooms, locker rooms, lunch room, restrooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of preventing injuries and ensuring site safety.
- Performs minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures (e.g., change vacuum cleaner belts, bags, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items.
- Performs summer maintenance (e.g., strip/wax floors, move furniture, painting, etc.) for the purpose of completing and/or facilitating summer maintenance, refurbishing and construction.
- Assists in preparing the site for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, sweeping walkway, removing trash, etc.) to ensure that facilities are operational and safe.
- Assists in the replenishment of classroom and restroom supplies (e.g., paper towels, soap, toilet paper, air fresheners, etc.) to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
- Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, broken glass, vandalism, alarms, etc.).
- Secures facilities and grounds during and after work (e.g., doors, gates, lights, etc.) to minimize property damage, equipment loss and /or potential liability.
- Supports other department staff (e.g., grounds, facilities, faculty, security, etc.) who identify custodial needs or issues on the campus.

Qualifications
- High school diploma desired.
- Experience or familiarity with cleaning techniques, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Availability to work weekends.
