About the Role

In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a part-time Coaching Specialist who will be a critical part of the Accelerator's success, directly influencing the professional growth of our volunteer Leadership Coaches (LCs) and, by extension, the Fellows they mentor. Through a blend of targeted feedback, one-on-one coaching, and expert guidance, you will be instrumental in helping LCs master their craft and become effective leaders. You will measure your success by the positive impact your LCs have on their cohorts and their development as skilled facilitators. Your expert mentorship and guidance will be the driving force behind this growth, empowering LCs to excel in their roles and lead with confidence.

This role is on the Central Delivery of the Accelerator (CDA) Team and reports directly to the Associate Director of Academic Success.

What You’ll Do

Coaching & Observation (85%)

  • Work with a caseload of 15-20 volunteer Leadership Coaches (LCs) to coach and develop their facilitation skillset, and support them as needed.
  • Attend 3-5 Learning Labs a week to observe and support assigned LCs, and provide quality control. Learning Labs take place Tuesday-Friday during normal business hours as well as Tuesday-Thursday evenings across U.S time zones (Western, Central, & Eastern time). The number of live observations will be heavier towards the beginning and end of the semester and will be adjusted based on the needs of your assigned LCs.
  • Send timely and constructive follow-up emails after each observation.
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching calls with targeted LCs to provide personalized support and guidance.
  • Proactively correspond with and meet with LCs outside of lab hours to support their facilitation preparation and provide thought partnership.
  • Track LC progress and development using Braven’s internal tracking system and protocol.
  • Address other topics as requested by LCs, providing tailored support.

Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing (10%)

  • Partner with Braven teammates to build and refine scalable systems that support volunteer success.
  • Share insights from observations and LC data to inform product, training, and volunteer program design improvements.
  • Document and socialize best practices, participating actively in Braven’s knowledge-sharing ecosystem

Professional Development (5%)

  • Attend all required Coaching Specialist training sessions to stay current on best practices and program updates.

Braven

About Braven

Braven empowers promising young people on their path to college graduation and strong first jobs. We believe that our next generation of leaders will emerge from everywhere, so we take a particular interest in ensuring our talent network is filled with people from underrepresented backgrounds. To do so, Braven partners with educational institutions, volunteer professionals, and employers to offer a rigorous and relevant career readiness course, that is followed by robust campus-based alumni programming. The course is targeted as a part of the sophomore or transfer junior experience.

Through The Braven Accelerator, a hybrid online and in-person course, Braven Fellows will get:

--Skills: learn the hard and soft skills companies and organizations want and practice them in mock professional settings.

--Experience: apply skills to solve real-world challenges with a cohort of peers.

--Coaching: receive small group and one-on-one coaching from a local young professional to achieve personal and professional goals.

--Networking: expand one’s circle of champions to include motivated peers, supportive adults, and respected thought-leaders.

The Braven Accelerator is principally facilitated by volunteer Leadership Coaches who come from all walks of life and all believe that our nation is better off when a person’s starting point does not limit their opportunities. Leadership Coaches guide our nation’s future leaders through this meaningful experience. At the same time, they develop and practice leadership and management skills that accelerate their own careers. They also develop their own network and deepen their connection to the community in which they live and/or work. This unique, high-impact volunteer opportunity employs a primarily virtual coaching model.

From The Braven Accelerator will come a generation of leaders as diverse as our future demands.
