Job Description

The Part-Time Bus Cleaning Assistant keeps Calvin University buses clean, safe, and ready for use. This position is responsible for the cleaning of bus interiors and exteriors, the restocking of supplies, and reporting any damage or maintenance concerns discovered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interior Cleaning: Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors. Clean seats, windows, handrails, driver areas, and other surfaces. Empty trash and remove items left on buses. Pending items left, work with the facilities and campus safety teams to return items to the owner.
• Exterior Cleaning: Wash the exterior of buses as needed and keep bus-maintenance areas neat and organized.
• Supplies & Equipment: Restock basic bus and cleaning supplies. Safely use and care for cleaning products and equipment, and report damaged or missing items.
• Safety & Reporting/Communication: Check buses for damage, safety concerns, or lost items. Report maintenance needs, damage, and other concerns to the supervisor or relevant team members promptly.
• Service & Teamwork: Work independently and with others to make sure buses are clean and ready for scheduled trips. .Work well with others on the transportation, facilities, athletics and other campus user teams. Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise other employees.

Qualifications:

No prior experience is required. Previous cleaning experience is helpful.

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to follow cleaning and safety instructions and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, focus on the task and complete assigned work on time.
• Ability to bend, reach, stand, walk, and safely enter and exit buses for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

A driver's license or Commercial Driver's License is not required unless the employee is needed to move or operate a bus.
