Part-Time Advance Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) for Emergency Medicine services

Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) has an opportunity available for a part-time Advance Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) (“APP”) for Emergency Medicine services. The APP’s duties will include management of emergency department patients including examination, treatment, consultation, follow-up, referral, ordering ancillary services, and documentation. The APP will also participate in patient satisfaction programs, quality improvement initiatives and any organizational or departmental goals and objectives to assure safe, quality care.

The part-time APP will be on-shift while a full-time Emergency Medicine physician is also on shift. The part-time work in PSMC’s Emergency Department is twenty-four (24) hours per week -- three 8-hour on-site shifts from 10am to 6:30pm (30 minutes off for lunch) on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays for 46 weeks per year.

PSMC offers the following compensation and benefits for this position:

  • PSMC compensation for a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner is dependent upon experience and the range is $59 to $65 an hour. This part-time weekend Emergency Medicine position includes an additional differential of five dollars ($5.00) per hour.
  • PSMC provides a CME allowance of $3,000 annually for part-time providers (gross subject to taxes).
  • Part-time positions accrue sick leave in accordance with policy but do not accrue vacation pay (a/k/a paid time off). This part-time position is eligible to take 6 weeks (or 144 hours) off per term-year unpaid.
  • Some health insurance benefits are available to part-time employees.
  • PSMC provides professional liability insurance coverage to all employed providers.
  • PSMC has two retirement programs:
    • PSMC and the employee each contribute 6% of earnings to a 401a retirement plan subject to I.R.S. contribution and compensation limits and five-year vesting; and
    • Employees may voluntarily participate in a 457 retirement plan.
  • PSMC is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible employer.
