Job Description

The CMU Department of Social & Decision Sciences seeks a part-time adjunct instructor to teach an undergraduate course in Introduction to Sociology. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Sociology or a related field and experience teaching Introduction to Sociology or related courses. It is expected that the adjunct instructor will teach one course per year.

· Teaching statement that describes previous teaching experience. We are particularly interested in how applicants use active learning in the classroom and how they align learning goals with classroom activities and student assessment.

· Teaching portfolio that could include any of the following: syllabi from previous course(s), sample lectures, activities, assignments, or exams, or a previously recorded lecture.

· Student course evaluations from previous courses taught
