THE PAY FOR THIS POSITION IS $19.00/HOUR.

Mesa County Facilities and Parks Department will be hiring a temporary worker. During the summer season, positions will be full time with 40 hours/week required. All schedules will require week days/evenings and possibly weekends.

Perform maintenance and general irrigation repairs including, but not limited to, general parks and grounds landscape maintenance; stripes fields and prepares fields for use; inspects, repairs, and maintains all related park equipment.

General labor duties include, but are not limited to, watering and maintaining landscape areas including pruning of trees and shrubs, pruning and renovation of landscape plantings, raking leaves from lawn areas, blowing sidewalks, and emptying trash receptacles.

Responds to requests and inquiries from the general public, utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed, responsible for identifying potential hazards and reporting them to supervisor.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

High school diploma or GED; Irrigation experience highly desired.

Knowledge of methods, techniques, tools for general irrigation head repairs; mechanical equipment used in the general construction/maintenance of landscape areas and park facilities; uses and purposes of general construction tools/equipment and safe work practices.

Ability to perform a variety of grounds and park maintenance; operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment safely and efficiently; perform heavy manual labor; understand and follow written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationship during course of work.

Ability to read and write at a level necessary for a successful job performance.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Colorado driver's license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

The employee is frequently exposed to dirt, smoke, fumes, extreme heat and cold for long duration, outside atmospheric conditions, and dust for sustained periods of time.

The employee is frequently exposed to loud noise.

  • A seniority system that rewards employees based on length of employment and relevant experience with prior agencies.
