Job Description

The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.09/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Reserve: a position working an average of 20 hours per week (anywhere between 40-999 hours per year).

The Parking and Transportation Host I will provide world-class guest service by extending a warm welcome, assisting guests in finding appropriate parking and/or direction, and answering questions regarding Biltmore and the surrounding area while ensuring a safe, orderly environment. This position will also provide occasional transportation (van only), including transport of guests or employees, as needed. In addition, Level 1 Staff will offer general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and the company as required.

Schedule: Generally 7am to 3pm and may vary depending on business need. Holiday and weekend availability required.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma (or GED); First Aid, CPR, AED certification a plus. Applicants must be 18 or older.
2. At least six (6) months of related experience in a guest contact/service, education, or other similar field, preferably in an upscale hotel/resort/attraction environment.
3. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world-class internal/external guest service.
4. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore history, products and services, and the Asheville area and Western North Carolina.
5. Ability to proactively engage with guests sincerely and identify opportunities to share stories, suggestively sell/cross-promote as appropriate.
6. Proactive, comfortable taking initiative; ability to exercise good judgment, prioritize work, and adapt as needed.
7. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; should be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with different audiences.
8. Problem solves creatively; strong guest service recovery skills; professionally handles a variety of situations with guests, vendors, etc.
9. Represents the company professionally in accordance with standards at all times.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record for the past three (2) years, and be at least 18 years of age; able to drive during day or at night.
2. Ability to sit, stand or walk in all types of weather for up to twelve (12) hours per day with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
3. Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds occasionally.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Provides world-class guest service; professional; greets guests with warmth/enthusiasm.
2. Directs guests as appropriate; answers questions with skill and tact.
3. Maintains a litter-free environment throughout all Estate grounds.
4. Uses two-way radio to communicate with other staff concisely and professionally.
5. Maintains a count of available parking space; cleanliness of parking areas.
6. Operates the Department Van safely and according to standard procedures.
7. Assists guests in boarding department vehicles; uses the proper procedure when transporting wheelchair-bound guests; executes all safety procedures to standard.
8. Knowledgeable about Asheville, Biltmore, as well as current information/events.
9. Executes emergency procedures during floods, snow and ice, bomb threats, etc.
10. Daily vehicle maintenance and service (fuel, etc.).
11. Maintains order in and around Biltmore House parking areas.
