As a leader in municipal off-street parking operations, you will play a key role in keeping our city moving. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing off-street parking facilities, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and accessible for the public. You will supervise staff, manage maintenance across assigned areas, and drive the successful implementation of division processes and procedures.

  • Oversees municipal off-street parking operations, including contracted vendors and facility maintenance across assigned geographic areas

  • Manages maintenance project, including consultant coordination, prioritization, plan review and decision making

  • Analyzes parking utilization to understand the balance of parking supply and demand

  • Develops and implements program policies, procedures, goals, and objectives to support operational excellence

  • Responds to service related inquires and concerns by researching complaints and implementing operational improvements

  • Utilizes a city vehicle to transport materials to and from garages

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Associate's Degree or 2 Years of College in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; 5 to 7 years’ experience in parking enforcement, parking system management, or related work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Administrator of Public Parking

Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office or similar environment and occasionally in an outdoor or street environment (near moving traffic), in or around vehicles and in a warehouse environment.

Work Exposures:
There is occasional exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate.
