The collection methodology will likely include data collection through timelapse cameras, manual occupancy counts, and/or license plate surveys across ten to twelve neighborhoods in New York City.

  • Data processing

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the processing of the data to ensure the capture of appropriate metrics. This may include overseeing consultant processing of timelapse photos, overseeing spreadsheet/data analysis in Microsoft Excel and similar databases, and ensuring collected data is clean and mappable.

  • Data reporting

The candidate will be responsible for writing periodic reports on the status of the data collection effort including annual reports. This will include interpreting the data collection to communicate to a both a technical and general audience, writing reports, generating charts, creating maps, and presenting to DOT leadership.

The candidate should have a solid foundation of experience in transportation planning and data collection of parking and transportation metrics. The candidate should have strong experience using data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel, R, and ArcGIS. The Analyst will have latitude for independent judgement and will be relied upon to keep the Data Collection program on track, organized, and efficient. The successful candidate will also participate in the general strategic planning/problem-solving sessions and assist in the development and deployment of new technologies, programs, processes, and other strategies.
