ABOUT CLATSOP COUNTY
Today Clatsop County is one of nine Home Rule counties in Oregon. Five non-partisan elected Commissioners set policy and appoint a full-time County Manager, who is responsible for daily operations. County services are provided through seven divisions: County Administration (County Manager), Assessment and Taxation, Budget and Finance, County Clerk, Juvenile, Public Health, Public Works, and the District Attorney, and Sheriff’s Offices. The county also administers a road district, a rural law enforcement district, and a local sewer district. The Facilities Department reports to the county administration division.
THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to support the maintenance and operation of County Park facilities and services, while providing guidance and direction to volunteers and park visitors as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A high school diploma or GED. AND
• One (1) year of visitor services experience and/or maintenance experience (such as rule enforcement and interpretation, education and environmental awareness programs, special events/activities, construction trades, landscaping, etc.).
• Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acceptable.
• Must possess and maintain driving privileges in the state of Oregon.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation and be eligible for limited law enforcement commission, with commission granted by the Clatsop County Sheriff.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience safely using tools, material and equipment associated with landscaping, building, facility and utility system maintenance.
• Experience in basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and/or grounds-keeping.
• Experience supporting basic park resource and facility operations and maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience responding appropriately to emotionally charged interactions or emergency situations, maintaining professionalism and sound judgement.
• Experience applying established rules, policies, or guidelines.
• Certification in First-aid, CPR.
