Perform basic park maintenance activities including mowing, planting, spraying and maintaining landscaped areas and playing fields; maintain the cleanliness of park areas, medians, trails and recreational facilities and non-grassed areas and assist in the planting of trees and shrubs.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED.
Specialized training in park maintenance or landscaping preferred.
Must successfully complete Park Management Training orientation within six (6) months and Park Maintenance Worker level I within one (1) year from date of hire.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Environmental:
Field environment; travel from site to site; work with and around maintenance equipment; exposure to noise, dust, fumes and inclement weather conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; and operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
