Job Description

Saint Peter’s Parish, Olney, Maryland is seeking a new staff member for our Parish Office. As the first point of contact for parishioners and visitors, this role is vital to the daily life and welcoming atmosphere of our parish community. We are looking for a practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings, who intends to shape a career with our Parish.

This position provides comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Pastor, parish staff, and ministries. A high degree of discretion, professionalism, and organizational expertise is required by this position to ensure the smooth operation of the Parish Office.

Responsibilities

• Office Administration: Manage phones, greet visitors, open and distribute mail, assist with bookkeeping, maintain records, and other standard office tasks.
• Communication: Draft correspondence, bulletin announcements, and parish emails with a high level of accuracy and professional tone.
• Data Management: Maintain databases and handle sensitive data with absolute confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Professional Demeanor: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a professional attitude and appearance appropriate for a church environment.
• Absolute Discretion: Proven ability to handle confidential, sensitive parish and personal information with utmost integrity.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong office skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Experience with Parishsoft Family Suite database software is a plus.
• Organization: Excellent time-management skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
• Mission Alignment: A practicing Catholic in good standing with an understanding of Catholic parish life and structures is preferred.

Pay range $23-$27per /hour, based on qualifications.
