Summary:

The Parent Experience Specialist utilizes their experience as a parent of a child with health care needs to enhance the health care experience for patients and families. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating parent volunteers; utilizing effective communication, organizational, and professional skills to create and grow programs which engage the voice of the parent. The Parent Experience Specialist also oversees parent-to-parent support programs along with staff partnership. As a parent of a child with complex/chronic health care issues, the Parent Experience Specialist brings a unique and valuable perspective. This parent on staff brings compassion, dedication, and insight to our mission that is unlike other employees; valuing the experience of parents, and nurtures and grows their unique gifts to support, advocate, and partner with staff. As a parent, this role focuses on the expertise of parents to elevate the health care experiences for patients and families. The Patient and Family Experience team’s mission is to give voice to what patients, families and members see, advocate for how experiences affect well-being, provide support and emotional safety, and elevate people, processes and technology. Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the human services profession.
  • Must have personal experience supporting and advocating for their child and/or an adolescent family member with a complex or chronic healthcare condition, including navigating multiple levels, departments, and services within a healthcare system to provide a patient and family perspective on organizational processes.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish is preferred; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Should have basic computer knowledge in office use (ex. word processing, email, etc.).
  • Ability to speak in public.

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
