Are you able to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze the information and recommend an appropriate course for an investigation based on the information? Our Paraprofessional Supervisor provides supervision to the Defender Investigators and Mitigation Specialists while carrying a caseload of their own.

We Require

• Five years of related investigative experience
• High School diploma or GED
• Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire

We Also Value

• Lead or supervisory experience
• Experience working in an indigent defense organization

Job Contributions

• Supervise and manage the performance of a group of paraprofessionals including conducting workload and progress meetings, coordinating leave and coverage, training in proper investigative techniques, handling disciplinary matters, preparing performance plans and evaluating staff performance
• Hires and trains new paraprofessional staff as well as facilitate development efforts of assigned staff
• Assign work and assignment requests to available staff and monitor workloads
• Maintain an active caseload
• Interact with attorneys, management, co-workers, clients, other agencies, and interested parties regarding cases and/or clients
• Review case documentation and assists in the development of defense strategies and case theories
• Travel weekly to multiple office locations (Durango, Mesa) to be accessible to the paraprofessional staff at these locations
• Ensure compliance with Office practices and procedures; address concerns; work to improve operations, streamline work processes and identify continuing needs
• Attend leadership meetings as needed to provide updates and participate in discussions pertaining to office issues and the needs of the paraprofessional staff

Working Conditions

• Requires the ability to work with traumatic subject matter (crime scenes, accidents, etc.) in a fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations
• Work may be performed in office and other enclosed areas, as well as various outside locations
• May require long periods of sitting while completing paperwork, standing and moving about during course of performing duties. Accuracy; decision making; and concentration/vigilance are constant requirements. Interruptions; time pressure; high volume of work; handling multiple or complicated tasks; unscheduled tasks; frequently changing tasks; teamwork; working in close physical proximity with others; and public contact are frequent occurrences
• Work requires travel to and from job related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles on County business
