Position Title: Paraprofessional, Elementary, Special Services

Reports To: Elementary Principal
Hours: School Days 7:45am-3:15pm Hourly wage: $18.25/hour

SUMMARY:
Assist teachers and students in the classroom with daily instructional and non-instructional activities.
Richland #44 School District is a Class B school district of about 300 students with two school buildings (PK-6 in Abercrombie and 7-12 in Colfax). We are idyllically located about halfway between Fargo and Wahpeton, giving families and staff the best of both worlds with a small-town feel close to larger areas. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). State mandated course work.
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to problem solve.
Ability to work with students of varying abilities. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Understanding of confidentiality and commitment to abide by confidentiality regulations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds such as adaptive equipment and supplies. The employee is occasionally required to sit, to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.

SEEC's mission is to enhance education in North Dakota through quality services and visionary leadership.
The SEEC is one of six regional education associations originally created in July 2005 with 17 schools. In July 2008, the SEEC merged with the South Central Education Cooperative (SCEC) and its 18 schools. Currently, SEEC serves over 35,000 students, over 3,500 teachers, in 36 public schools districts and 4 private schools. Through this merger the Executive Committees and Governing Boards wanted to build on the strengths of each organization and expand services to support schools in increasing student achievement.
