Parametric Engineer 2 (Structural) for IMEG Consultants Corp to work at our San Francisco, CA loc with flexible hybrid arrangement after initial period of fully in-person work.
JOB SUMMARY: Lead development, validation, & deployment of parametric structural engineering workflows that accelerate early-stage decision-making & improve delivery across projects. Combine structural engineering judgment w/ computational tools to produce fast, code-informed studies, cost/CO2 insights, & reproducible methods that scale firmwide. JOB DUTIES: Build, test, & maintain parametric tools/workflows for structural systems; integrate w/ design platforms (Rhino/Grasshopper, Python, ETABS, RAM, Revit) & document standards for re-use. Validate computational outputs against structural codes & IMEG quality processes; provide in-process design reviews & ensure deliverables meet project & client requirements. Lead or co-lead early-phase structural studies (schemes, load paths, system comparisons), contributing analysis, calculations, and specifications aligned w/ scope, budget, & schedule. Collab w/ project managers, architects, & multidisciplinary teams; interact w/ clients to gather requirements, present options, and communicate technical info. Present at industry conferences. Propose topics, build decks/demos, deliver talks/workshops, & share follow-ups (papers/videos/case studies). Present to clients/contractors & internally; run live demos. Communicate options & trade-offs, perform real-time parametric demos, capture feedback, align next steps. Track & report innovation; maintain an innovation log & share lessons learned through internal seminars, guides, & training. Monitor industry trends (codes, materials, software) & contribute to research & innovation initiatives. Little local travel to offices of architects/contractors for presentations. Travel not exceeding 60 days per year. No expected consecutive days of travel. Wage: $156,957. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Must have Master’s in Civil or Structural Engineering or rel field; and 4 years relevant building design consulting experience. Also requires skills (4 years exp) in: structural fundamentals (mechanics, materials, load paths) across steel, concrete, wood, and masonry; frame problems, prototype algorithms, build intuitive interfaces in rapid build-test-iterate loops – blending structural judgment w/ inventive parametric methods & human-centered UX; hands-on parametric/computational skillset (Grasshopper and Python components) with ability to troubleshoot, iterate, and package tools for non-coders; ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC; align scripts/workflows with code checks and firm standards; Rhino; ETABS; RAM; MS Office. PE License with structural focus is also required.
