This position provides Basic Life Support care and Advanced Life Support care for patients in out-of-hospital environments.

P1 - P5 - DOE
High school diploma, or equivalent; and completion of an accredited paramedic training program.
Five (5) years of direct patient care experience in a prehospital or clinical setting, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position. Relevant experience and skills may include but are not limited to: Providing care in a prehospital, clinical, or remote settings; operating and maintaining emergency vehicles and medical equipment; conducting patient assessments and critical interventions in dynamic environments; coordinating with hospital and public safety personnel; performing patient care in non-traditional settings such as industrial sites, remote field operations, and clinical facilities; and managing medical documentation, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.
Possession of State of Alaska Paramedic license or National Registry Paramedic License is required at time of hire.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical, respirator fit test and physical ability test (PAT) in addition to an annual respirator fit test and PAT test. Must complete a baseline audiometry screening and will be required to undergo annual testing as part of the Hearing Conservation Program. Must complete the Hepatitis B vaccination series and maintain a current Tetanus (Td or Tdap) vaccination, or provide signed declinations, in accordance with applicable health and safety guidelines. Must complete Tuberculosis (TB) screening, or provide signed declination, in accordance with applicable health and safety guidelines.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700 within ninety (90) days of hire and ICS 200 and IS 800 within one (1) year of hire.

Borough services are provided on an area-wide and non area-wide basis. Area-wide services are those services that are provided both within and outside the incorporated cities of the Borough. Non area-wide services may only be provided outside of the incorporated cities.
